About Me
Monty Bennett, who is from Henderson County and Dallas, Texas, is a well-known hotel magnate. He and his teams own, run, and manage more than 100 hotels throughout the United States through Ashford, Inc., Ashford Hospitality Trust, and Braemar Hotels and Resorts.
His collection of expensive properties goes back to the late 1960s. In 1968, his dad, Archie, started buying hotels. In the following years, Bennett took the family business public and grew it from six hotels to more than 130. In addition, he and his teams run 13 resorts in six states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Monty went to Cornell University and got his degree. The hotel mogul was one of seven children who grew up in Houston, Texas. He now lives between Dallas, Texas, and nearby Athens, an hour southeast of the city where he and his growing family have lived for over 30 years.
Monty is the CEO of Ashford, Inc. and the chairman and founder of Braemar Hotels & Resorts. He is also the chairman and founder of Ashford Hospitality Trust.
Monty Bennett started Braemar Hotels & Resorts in 2013 as a branch of Ashford Hospitality Trust. Under his skilled direction, the company owns 13 properties. The Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe in Nevada County, California, are two of the best properties in this group.
In line with Bennett's own beliefs, Braemar Hotels & Resorts has five guiding principles that it stands for. These five guiding principles are honesty, coming up with new ideas, making money, getting people involved, and not giving up.
Bennett, who owned a lot of hotels, set up Ashford Hospitality Trust in 2003. The trust mostly puts its money into high-end hotels with full services. 2013 was the year that Ashford Hospitality Trust went public. The group owns more than 110 properties, including the Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, the nearby W Hotel Atlanta, and the Renaissance Nashville Hotel, all well-known properties.
Ashford Hospitality Trust and the businesses that came before it has been in the hotel business for over 50 years. Chairman and founder Bennett and his team have a lot of experience thanks to many hotel cycles, disciplined market activities, and efforts to manage assets in a way that adds value. As a result, the trust has a very good track record of transactions today.
Ashford Hospitality Trust and Braemar Hotels & Resorts follow the same five rules. It also has a strong, underlying sense of giving back to the community and is an active partner and contributor. Aside from that, the company tries to help organizations that help less fortunate people by holding big charity events like its annual Community Service Day.
Ashford, Inc. was started in 2014 as another business that Monty Bennett started. Its main job is to give advice to Braemar Hotels & Resorts and Ashford Hospitality Trust. As an alternative asset management company, Ashford, Inc.'s main goal is to provide Braemar Hotels & Resorts and Ashford Hospitality Trust with global asset management, investment management, and other related services.
This is on top of simultaneously serving a wider range of strategic operating businesses and other businesses in the real estate and hospitality sectors.
Under Bennett, Ashford, Inc. has a separate department for hospitality products and services. With this new department, the company is in a good position to invest in companies that run and serve the hospitality industry. Ashford, Inc. also acts as a growth accelerator for these companies by using its platforms and those of other companies.
In 1989, Monty got his bachelor's degree from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, where he got a high grade. He also has a separate master's degree in business administration from Cornell's S.C. Johnson Graduate School of Management, which is a prestigious Ivy League research university in Ithaca, New York.
He stays a member of the Cornell Hotel Society for the rest of his life.
Monty Bennett has worked in almost every part of the hospitality business for more than 30 years. This includes hotel real estate, finance, ownership, operations, development, asset management, project management, and many other highly specialized areas of knowledge.
He still uses his years of work experience to pay close attention to executive-level growth, forecasts, economics, news, insights, and more in the hospitality industry.
During his decades-long career, Bennett has worked for Braemar Hotels & Resorts, Ashford Hospitality Trust, and Ashford, Inc. He has also been a member of and held leadership positions in several well-known industry groups. He is also a generous person who has helped over 100 charities, nonprofits, and other good causes throughout his career.
